The Pit Head, Barnsley South Yorkshire
The Pit Head, Barnsley South Yorkshire
I have a lot of memories of Barnsley, from trips to the Metrodome, to visiting one of my best friends to getting my first fashion job there!
I didn’t know the history of Oaks until after I did the print but I loved that this pit head had been preserved and listed for the coal mining history of this part of South Yorkshire. We have the mills in Bradford and I think it's important to have reminders of our industrial heritage there for all generations to connect with the history of their home city and town rather than being completely destroyed, filled in and wiped away as if it didn't happen as with the mines.
