So glad to be coming back to the seaside, and this wonderful event The Staithes Festival of Art and Heritage in one of my favourite places. Charlotte Morrison makes ceramics inspired by vintage packaging and her most recent collection looks at paths and contours in the Yorkshire landscape.
Jillian Riley Designs producing porcelain vessels inspired by mythology and a passion for things that are a little on the dark side.
Visitors can walk the maze of lanes visiting these spaces as well as taking part in a programme of guided walks, workshops, talks and film shows. Heritage too plays an important part in the life of the village and will be celebrated in events and exhibitions throughout the weekend. Really pleased to be back in Holmfirth and for the Art Week fringe at the beautifully renovated Nowhere which is tucked away on the lovely hidden Norridge Bottom, and definitely worth finding. I will be exhibiting there with Anthony Ratcliffe, James Bywood and Emma Lawrenson, and I can vouch for the delicious brunch also try the homemade cola too!
“One of the UK’s Largest Open Art Exhibitions, Featuring over 400 exhibitors and over 2,000 artworks, plus dozens of fringe venues across the local area with thousands more works of art and craft.
Holmfirth Artweek is a local event with a national reputation. The majority of the exhibitors are from this area but large numbers of visitors come from all over the country to view and to buy. It is astounding how much artistic talent there is locally and it is this that makes the event such a success every year.
In addition to the main Exhibition at The Civic, businesses and individuals in the Holmfirth area create exhibition spaces and open their doors to showcase the work of artists from across the region. The Fringe features an exciting and diverse array of work from photographers, painters, textile-makers, ceramicists, sculptors and more.”

“Horsforth Walk of Ar is a free, community led, diverse and inclusive, creative festival that engages the entire community.
We aim to showcase creativity by local and almost local artists and performers in everyday and unusual spaces. It engages and inspires the community to have a go at art in all its forms.
In previous years we have seen upwards of 100 artists displaying and performing numerous art forms in over 80 venues around the popular Leeds suburb. High street shops, churches, woodlands, the park, garages, houses, sheds and caravans. There are no spaces we wouldn’t consider.”

This year I’ll be selling my prints at Otley Coffee Festival, a biannual event for the coffee-lovers’…I don’t like coffee but don't tell anyone!
As well as coffee there will also be a selection of Yorkshire based makers selling their wares….I’m classed as further afield so they like to keep things local!
So what is a coffee Festival?
“At a coffee festival you can enjoy finding out more about coffee and associated products, whatever your level of expertise. At a festival, you would typically be able to taste and compare coffee, watch, and perhaps participate in, latte art, coffee tasting competitions and brewing demonstrations. Coffee brands and merchants would tell you their story”
This years festival theme is ”The World in Your Cup. Both the talks programme and the exhibition will be based on that theme, considering how what we drink, eat, and buy can be better for us and the wider world in which we live.” For more details please visit the website here.
