Matlock Bath Peak District, Derbyshire
Matlock Bath Peak District, Derbyshire
Matlock Bath is lovely and somewhat usual place situated on the river Derwent, I first stayed there with a group of friends and was surprised that it almost feels like being at the seaside whilst on the edge of the Peak District. Situated in the Derbyshire Dales, south of Matlock it first developed as a spa town and is still very much a tourist destination to this day.
The steep sides of the valley means that building is restricted to one side whilst facing the sheer cliffs of Giddy Edge and High Tor, they’re linked together by cable cars from the Heights of Abraham.
With this screen print I wanted to show the distinctive narrow nature of this valley landscape, with it’s buildings up one side and the cable cars that travel in threes sailing high above.
