Gordale Scar The Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire
Gordale Scar The Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire
Originally I made this screen print back in 2018 but due to health issues I never had the strength to finish such a big print, so the edition remained unfinished until now. I have printed this in very similar colours to the original prints but as a point of difference these ones are lighter and do not have a date on them.
Gordale Scar is slightly less known then it’s neighbour Malham Cove but is equally loved and a wonderfully dramatic chunk of limestone in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This view is from the fields at the entrance of the ravine where Gordale Beck flows out of as heads to Janet’s Foss waterfall as it heads to the River Aire. I really wanted to show the texture in this landscape and the contrast of grey stone against the green grass.
